Bacon 4/01/1948 - 9/10/2008 Roger Bacon died peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of September 10th. He was 60 years old. He was born in Everett Washington and raised in Issaquah Washington. He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1966. He joined the Marine Corp and served one tour of duty in Vietnam receiving a Purple Heart. Semper Fi.

He moved to California in 1970 and lived the remainder of his life in Newark. He worked as a mechanic for United Airlines for 35 years, retiring in 2003. After a year of retirement the boredom got to him and he took a position with the Newark Police Department. He found his life's calling in the Red Light Camera program and immersed himself in his new career. Roger was an NRA member and loved to reload, hunt and shoot. He enjoyed golf and played nearly every Friday. He also loved to tinker around the house and completed many home improvement projects over the years. He played softball on numerous different teams. Roger coached in the Fremont National Youth Baseball and Newark American Little Leagues. He was also known as "Tin Man" and "Quiet Roger" to his CB family.

Roger was a devoted husband, a loving father and an awesome grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Patricia Bacon of Newark, CA, by his children Roger Bacon Jr. of Unalaska, AK, Kimberly (Bob) Ziegler of Palmer, AK, William (Denise) Beban of Plumas Lakes, CA and Joseph Bacon of Newark, CA, by his grandchildren Jakob and Marna "Katie" Ziegler, Grayson and Dawson Bacon, and Jordan Beban, by his siblings Reveille Barchenger, Terry Bacon, Barb Cummings, Robert Bacon, Sandy Coffman; and by his first wife Pamela Bacon. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Marna and Raymond Bacon.

A memorial and celebration of Roger Bacon's life will be held Saturday 9/13/08 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newark Community Church. He will be buried at the Russian River Cemetery in Ukiah, CA.
